Video Notes: 29 October 2014: Violent clashes broke out in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou after a second day of protests denouncing the president's plan to seek re-election.Burkina Faso has moved from an expectation of a "Faso Spring" to a Coup within three days, creating an environment of instability and the possibiity of continued protest actions. Opposition parties and civilian organisations have rejected the military leading the country during a transitional phase preceding elections. The constitution of Burkina Faso determines that the president of the senate in Article 43 takes over in the event of the president's failure to execute his duties. Elections will have to be held within 30 to 60 days. The military intervention within the constitutional framework of Burkina Faso is a coup without popular support, creating the probability of continued upheavals and instability in the immediate future.
