Documentary on Sa'eed al-Shehri - Part One of Mini Series On March 20, 2014, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) "Al-Malahem Foundation for Media Production" issued the first installment of a mini documentary series on the life of late leader and former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Saudi national Sa'eed al-Shehri (Abu Sufyan al-Azdi), who was killed in a US drone strike in July 2013. Born in 1971 and raised in Riyadh, al-Shehri's early career as a bodyguard to Saudi royalty -- part of the elite al-Nokhbah Unit, in ways similar to the Secret Service -- signaled a good future. He was a determined and well trained leader early on. But as the video shows, al-Shehri was politically oriented, with concerns about international grievances shared by the likes of al-Qaida -- especially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
