Inside Islamic State: An Aid Worker's Perspective

Leishmaniasis Disease Spreading Through Islamic StateThis document will provide some of the personal experiences and observations related to the Islamic State of Iraq and ash Sham / Islamic State (Islamic State of Iraq, ISIS or ISIL, IS) during my work as an Aid worker based in the Turkish cities Kilis and Hatay on the border with Syria, from the period of August 2013 till March 2014 working in a Medical project for a disease called “Leishmaniasis” in the northern part of Syria with a British Non Governmental Organization (NGO). This report is about experiences and observations from almost one year so it is not up to date in matters of the geographical presence of ISIS but it will provide more about their strategies, policies and field practices that did not change but in anycase expanded. Image (above): Syria 2014 from personal archives of author.  Please see last chapter for entire photo report.Regions Under Control of: Free Syrian Army (FSA), ISIS, Jabhat Al …
