The Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), an umbrella organization for Al-Qa'ida in the Land of the Two Rivers/Iraq (AQI) and a number of small jihadi-takfiri insurgent groups, released a statement yesterday claiming a brazen and bloody attack and hostage-taking at an Iraqi government office in the city of Tikrit, the late Saddam Husayn's hometown, on Tuesday (March 29). The attack resulted in the deaths of 58 people, most of whom were either killed in a car bombing or executed by the five ISI fighters who carried out the attack, all of whom were also eventually killed.
