211 Crew, formed in 1995 by a Colorado inmate, now claims several hundred to a thousand members, but has no real presence outside of Colorado. The gang has a hierarchical, paramilitary structure, and new members are required to learn a verbal and written code the gang uses to communicate. Benjamin Davis, one of the founders of a 211 Crew prison gang, was sentence to 108 years in prison for gang activities behind bars.
