The Alliance for the Salvation of the Sahel (ASS) is an armed group to protect Fulani (Peul) civilians from Mali Burkina Faso "against abuses". The strength of the group and areas of operations remain speculative. The formation of the group coincided with the announcement of a similar group to protect Dogon communities, named Dana Amassagou (The Hunters Who Confide in God).
