An Islamist coalition called Jaysh al Fateh was formed in 2015 with the specific goal of taking the Syrian city of Idlib. In addition to al Nusra Front, members of the alliance include Ahrar al Sham, Jund al Aqsa, Liwa al Haqq, Jaysh al Sunna, Ajnad al Sham, Faylaq al Sham Ahrar al Sham and Jund al Aqsa. The coalition is not aligned with the Islamic State, which controls other large swaths of territory in northeast Syria.
