Josiah Mwangi Kariuki aka JM was a Kenyan socialist politician during the administration of the Jomo Kenyatta government. "JM" was the assistant minister in the Kenyatta government between 1974 and 1975 and his popularity threatened to overshadow the Kenyatta government. He was re-elected despite the Kenyatta government pulling all strings at its disposal to avoid his re-election. He was a prolific philanthropist. After JM's assissantion Patrick Shaw and three other police officers were implicated in his assassination.
