On 8 March 2016, a press release announced the formation of the We Save Uganda Now (SUN) movement. The movement follows the 2016 elections in Uganda at which President Yoweri Museveni 30 year rule has been extended with another five years. The objective of the group is to engage in a guerrilla war to end Museveni's rule. The group's commander is stated as “Maji Moto”. The group reportedly also include disgruntled soldiers from the Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF).
