This is the 24th attack since the start of 2018, with this attack being the the second largest executed by those linked to the Shabaab cult. It should be noted that there is no organized Shabaab cult, but followers acting within cell structures without any overarching leadership structure.  A total of 20 civilians have already been killed in Palma  during June 2018.
