Arsal, is roughly 124 kilometres north east of Beirut; with a predominantly Sunni Muslim population.  However on the way to Arsal, lay the Shi'ite towns of the fertile Bekaa valley. Both JFS and IS are attempting exploit the Sunni/Shia divide still raw from the Civil War.
