On 25 May 2016, AQIM claimed the targeting of French-owned uranium mine, Areva, in Arlit North- West Niger, with Grad rockets. The claim to credit refers to a new brigade (katiba) 'Saraya al-Nasser' ('Brigade of victory/triumph') being present in Niger.
