On 30 April 2016, Islamic State claimed the assassination of Nikhil Chandra Joarder, bringing the tally to 5 high profile deaths in Bangladesh in one month's time. The string of assassinations were claimed by 2 different groups: al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), and Islamic State in Bangladesh (ISB).
