Cells in the region were actively being apprehended as late as the day before the attack. Over a three day time frame in February (22-24) 2015 the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior claimed to have apprehended and detained approximately 100 suspected Islamist militants in counter-terrorism operations carried out across Tunisia.
