Here, a leader was imposed, without consultation and without advice, and Chechens feel no compulsion to obey a leader they did not themselves choose.

  • March 14, 2014 Boko Haram attacked Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State in Nigeria’s northeast. To demonstrate how easily they raided the barracks, they produced the video of the operation, in a second video their leader, Abubakar Shekau warning of further bloodshed, including against civilians.  This video shows extremists shooting confidently in the Nigerian army's main barracks in north-eastern Nigeria and meeting little to no resistance during the raid.
